HJAAP Politics of Black Space

The Politics of Black Space – Deadline: March 1st

The Politics of Black Space, the 22nd edition of the Harvard Journal of African American Public Policy, illuminates the intricacies of establishing and promoting Blackness within the arts, activist, and academic realms. Motivated by student movements that seek to “reclaim the space,” the issue welcomes submissions pertaining to the creation, disruption and sustainment of Blackness as well as it’s broader implications on policy goals.

– What is Black space?

– How do you examine, rectify and/or advocate through your position within or around that space?

– Where are its boundaries? How are these boundaries broken? In what ways does this space interact with broader policy goals?

While the issue grapples with various questions, we welcome pitches that reflect your ideas!

Submissions are accepted through March 1, 2016 via email to hjaap@hks.harvard.edu. While online publication is ongoing, the print issue will be released in May 2016.

For more information, please visit the “Submit Your Writing” tab or contact the Editorial Board (hjaap@hks.harvard.edu) with any questions!

We look forward to reviewing your work!
